THE BELONGING PROJECT
Podcasts, workshops and a research-led toolkit for youth engagement
Producer and writer, Rosa Torr, is co-designing an outreach toolkit for touring theatre companies who wish to engage young people (YP) in East Anglia. Using the central theme of ‘Belonging’, she is exploring how we can build young communities through theatre making and play. This project is supported through the NNF Artist Bursary Programme with outreach support from The Garage.
Working closely with young people, youth arts professionals and academics we are testing theatre exercises, such as vocal/movement/games, that encourage young people to feel connected, confident and collaborative. The collation of the findings from workshops will culminate in an outreach toolkit with two key elements:
A written report that collates my findings and includes a proposed menu of theatre exercises/games based on ‘Belonging’ to draw from when producing outreach programmes with young people in East Anglia.
A podcast documentary about the process that platforms the voices and concerns of the young people.
