Playwriting
“A fantastic course and I can't recommend it enough!" - Passed participant of the Playwriting Course.
(11th January 2023 - 8th March 2023)
Have you always wanted to write a play? Perhaps you’ve written one but would like to develop it? Or maybe you just want to try something new in a supportive environment? Start the new year right with this carefully crafted playwriting course led by two experienced practitioners.
WHAT?
“If you would like to write a play but have no idea where to begin, then I can’t recommend Rosa’s course enough. It is fast-paced and demanding and you will write more than you ever thought possible. At the end of the term, your pieces will be read by professional actors which is a great experience to hear your words come to life.”
We will explore plot, genre, themes, character development and experiment with theatre making methods. These are not lectures in the ‘art of playwriting’, rather a series of fast-paced workshops where, through practical exercises, you will unlock your creative potential. The course will culminate in a day of play readings where a short extract of your play will be read by professional actors. You will benefit from sharing your work with a group through guided feedback sessions- group support is after all, a gift when it comes to a regular playwriting process. Past groups who have taken this course started writers groups that are still on going!
This course is open to all experience levels for those who want to try playwriting in a supportive and educational environment. Whether you have worked in theatre for years or never been involved in a production but always wanted to create a text for the theatre, this course will support your journey.
